The regional wildlife symposium will provide an opportunity for the public to increase their understanding and appreciation of Arizona’s native wildlife species and to learn ways to live with them compatibly. The Symposium will also help the public recognize how wildlife can provide aesthetic, recreational and economic benefits to communities and that, to preserve this part of our heritage, we must develop a regional plan that considers the habitat needs of pre-existing wildlife.
A panel discussion, addressing a regional outlook on wildlife, will take place on Friday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Expo on Saturday, September 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Sharlot Hall Museum, 415 W. Gurley. No registration required.
The schedule of activities includes informative talks,
wildlife exhibits (with living specimens), food and live entertainment. Children’s
activities will occur from 11:00 - 2:00. There will be handouts to take
home and a simple craft for kids to do. View a calendar
highlighting other Wildlife Events happening throughout
the month of September. For instance, there will be two guided field trips in
Watson Woods Riparian Preserve - 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. With over 20 exhibitors in attendance, including Arizona Game and Fish, Prescott Audubon, the Highland Center for Natural History, and Prescott National Forest, the public will have the chance to ask local experts questions about living in the urban/wildland interface. The goal of this event is to inform the public about specific ways they can design and manage their personal property for the mutual benefit of themselves and resident wildlife. It is also to examine proactive regional planning that will allow for the preservation of Arizona's treasured wildlife heritage.
